Foundations of Hope - Aaron & Brandi Riddle

April 27, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Growing in up a Christian home we always had missionaries coming through our church raising funding to travel to foreign countries eager to tell others of God's word, to be a blessing to other communities and more. I've always had a 'soft spot' for those families knowing that they put their trust in God whole heartedly and give up all the luxuries we have here in the US because they know that God's Kingdom is indeed worth it. I use to wonder 'how can I help.' I knew I wasn't called to missions outside of the country, but wanted to support those who were. Their ministry caught my attention a few years ago because it involves one of my favorite sports. Soccer. I grew up playing for our church and through soccer we reached hundreds of children in Clemson and surrounding areas. I loved the sport, I loved making new friends and I learned over time that it's not just a game, but it's an opportunity to show the grace of God through teaching as well.

Aaron and Brandi Riddle were called to serve in the Highland Region of Quetzaltenango also known as Xela, Guatemala. In 2014 they created and used a weekly soccer ministry, personal evangelism and various activities with a local church in La Esperanza. Their soccer academy takes the local children out of the streets and introduces them to the Word of God and teaches them life skills like respect, discipline, teamwork and more.

Through their website I researched just how we could help them and their goals for their ministry. They're looking to raise over $100,000 to build their own facility so that they can better serve the community. They're averaging around 70 children a week and need a larger field so that they can minister to several age groups. They'd like to create a store to sell merchandise and hopefully make  their ministry completely self-supported. Financial support isn't all they need through. They need prayers. Praying that God opens the doors they need.

From their website:

Many of you may be wondering how you can help.  We are a fully self-supported missionary family.  We are totally trusting God for our support.  There are several ways that you can help.

First, join us in prayer.  Pray that God will strengthen us and provide for us.  Pray that he will move in the hearts and lives of people around the globe to help support us financially.  Pray diligently for the people of Guatemala.  Pray that God will send his Holy Spirit to move in their hearts and draw them to salvation.

Second, help us spread the word.  You can tell your friends and family about us.  If you lead a small group or home group we would love the opportunity to share what God is doing in our lives and ministry.  You could also share our blog or our Facebook page (  The more people we can touch the greater work for Christ we can provide.

Third, we need your financial support.  Our monthly budget is $3,000.00 dollars.  This includes housing, transportation, food, clothes, (the day to day things of life that do not stop even in a foreign country), and language school during our first year in Guatemala.  We are looking for two types of donors.  We understand that some of you may only be able to give once a year or on special occasions. That is awesome, and we say thank you for your gift and your faithfulness to God.  Some of you, however, may be able to partner with us on a monthly basis.  We are looking for 70 Ministry Partners.

10 Partners to give $100.00 a month
20 Partners to give $50.00 a month
40 Partners to give $25.00 a month
Giving is simple and easy. There are two ways in which you can give.  First, you can mail checks directly to our Missions Agency, World Outreach Ministries.

Or if you would like you can just visit their website at our name in the drop down menu and give securely online.  You can make a one time donation or select and set up a monthly donation to be automatically drafted from the card you choose.
Remember no gift is too small or too large.  It will take several people being obedient to Christ to help us carry out his call for our lives.  Also WOM is a fully accredited 501C3 so all gifts are tax deductible and you will receive monthly contribution statements for your gifts.
Even if your donation can only be done on occasion it's helpful! I'll be doing my best to work with the family and hopefully help them raise some funds! Faith. Family & Soccer. Sounds amazing doesn't it?
With Love & Awkward Hugs,
